CURRENTLY ACCEPTING PERSONAL TRAINING CLIENTS ON WAITLIST
Bent Bar is here to subvert the norms of exercise culture. If you've ever felt out of place in a big box gym, I'm here for you!
Exercise doesn't have to be about losing weight or making yourself smaller. I'm here to meet you where you are, through body neutral and motivational coaching.
I'm on a mission to create truly accessible fitness for all bodies.
My training style focuses on health, longevity and feeling good in the body that you have. I believe that is what exercise should be about! I mean you've heard all the health benefits right?
So no scales, no measurements, no BMI (it's BS anyways), no before and after pictures, and most importantly no shame.
Whatever your goals are I'm here to give you the tools to achieve them. I create programming based on your needs and am always in your corner to provide you with motivation and accountability. Don't get me wrong, you will be doing A LOT of hard work. But nothing easy is really worth doing is it?
Hello!
My name is Jesse, I use she/her pronouns. Currently I live in the beautiful city of Guelph Ontario and have been here for about 8 years now. Some of my favorite things are; my dog Kingsley, going for hikes and reading some great fiction.
I came out as bisexual around the same time I moved to Guelph and have since gotten involved in the LGBTQ+ community here as much as possible with volunteer work. Currently I facilitate 2 monthly queer group including rainbow knitters and the LGBT2Q+ women's social group. Check them out if you're local!
When I first moved to Guelph I didn't really know what I wanted to do as a career. I had just left a job in childcare (I know huge shift right) and was making my way through minimum wage call center jobs.
I started attending exercise classes at a local gym and IMMEDIATELY fell in love! The music, the movement, everyone in the same space moving in synch all connected by the same energy. It was absolutely beautiful.
So I decided to get my FIS certificate. I started teaching classes for a while but found soon that, that wasn't enough, I went for my PTS as well.
Throughout the process of getting certified and connecting with fellow members of the LGBTQ+ community I noticed a shitty trend. Most of the people I knew had some sort of gym horror story and that didn't sit well with me and my identity as a fitness professional.
Striking out on my own has been a lifechanging decision. I get to train the way I want to train, and I think you'll like it too.
